An update from the Director

Hi everyone
Well, it’s been a while since our AGM so I thought I would give you all a bit of an update of what’s been going on….and what the Committee have been working on.
We had a great response with prompt Membership renewals which is greatly appreciated so thank you. We are currently sitting at 132 which includes a few new members which is great, so if you see someone you don’t recognise, please go and say “Hi” and make them feel part of the DSKC family.
So, we had a last-minute Directors Ride, an overnight trip to Wanaka.
This was a great weekend, the weather was fantastic, I think we had around 30 people turn up on bikes. We did a wee ride up over the crown range on the Sunday and everyone enjoyed the ride.
We are just back from The Drizzle Run, in Te Anau another great weekend with 18 bikes and 2 cars.
The ride was great as far as Gore …. then we encountered some freezing fog…and when we stopped for lunch in Lumsden there was ice on everything including icicles hanging off brake and clutch leavers…but it did clear and the last leg into Te Anau we were back into clear skies.
There was also a group of car enthusiasts at the Moose Bar so it’s fair to say the place was rockin.
On the way home we went via Manapouri and Riverton just to round off the weekend.
The weather was mixed …but well worth the ride …. bleddy fantastic…
Ok what next, I hear you say….so here is a brief rundown of what we have planned with more details closer to the events.
- 18/19 September Sunrise to Sunset overnighter to Glenorchy. (1 night home on 19th)
- 5/6/7 November Southern Roar at Methven (2 nights home on 7th) Less than 50 tickets left!
There are several options for rides to Methven so either make your own plans to get there or join one of the options below. Times for these departures will come out soon:
- Jason and I will be leaving from Dunedin on Thursday 4th and going via Wanaka picking up riders along the way and up to Franz Joseph for the night then ride into Methven on the Friday 5th.
- Pat and Neil are also leaving on the Thursday the 4th from Invercargill heading through central straight to Methven for an extra night at the start of the Southern Roar.
- There may be a group leaving from M&V on the Friday 5th …if that’s your plan let us know and we can put some times out if other people wish to do this option.
- 20/21 November Christmas Doo at The Gate Cromwell.
This is a lunchtime Christmas Dinner but this year anyone who wishes we will be having an afternoon ride after lunch maybe to Arrowtown then on to Wanaka take in a few bars enroute and back to The Gate for a evening of fun and stay overnight.
Just worth a mention Guns n Roses are in Dunedin on the Sunday 21st so there will be a group riding from Cromwell back to Dunedin for this…. what a great weekend that’s goanna be. Join us for all or part of it.

- 28/29/30 January 2022 is the 1340 Ride. (Home on 30th)
Oh the excitement never stops! This is going to coincide with the Woodstock Rally in Hokitika.
So, the plan will be to ride to Reefton for the Friday night and then on to Hokitika for the Saturday. Those wishing to go into the rally site can do so or you can just spend the night in the town. Ride home on the Sunday.
- 23 February to 9th March 2022 is the North Island Trip

14/15 May 2022 DSKC 30th Anniversary. (1 night)
This is going to be a very special night you will not want to miss.
Plans are well underway……PUT THIS DATE IN YOUR DIARY
Details will be out late August.
There will be some other rides and things going on as we go through the year …. if anyone is just going for a ride …post it up on Member Jungle and you may get some company.
